About Peggy Rubin

Peggy Rubin

Artist’s Statement

Working as a professional writer for most of my adult years, I was always intrigued by the visual arts. But it wasn’t until a totally unexpected move to Tucson that I was inspired to take my first art class. In abstract painting, I knew at once that my soul had found what it had been looking for.

I approach each blank canvas as a potential miracle. Free from the boundaries of realism, I try to create rhythmic layers of colors, textures, shapes, and intensities that evolve into more than just a visually appealing work of art. I hope to create an emotional dynamic that reaches out not only to the senses, but most especially, to the mind and the heart.

Artist’s Bio

Peggy Rubin has had a successful career as a professional writer. In addition to working as an editor for several major publishers, she is the author of more than a dozen textbooks and a multi-national cookbook for children.

While continuing to write, Peggy enjoyed a second career as an antiques dealer. A co-owner of two antiques shops in Newport, Rhode Island, she traveled extensively to participate in antiques shows from Maine to Florida.

Peggy was inspired to explore abstract painting after moving to Tucson, Arizona, where she lives with her husband and two dogs.

Peggy is a member of CASA (Contemporary Artists of Southern Arizona), SAAG (Southern Arizona Arts Guild), and Fine Art America. She has won numerous local awards as well as several international competitions . Her work can be seen at Tucson's SAAG Gallery in La Encantada Shopping Center, ADC Gallery in Cincinnati, BLINK art resource magazine, and in institutions and residences throughout the country.
